Refrigeration Shop - At night

shop - Night

Doing a little late night TV repair work. You can see our stereo system and my Heathkit shortwave radio. The radar guys had to perform a calibration task called a "solar" when they would aim at the sun and verify it's position against the what the equipment was reporting. This required a precise time signal and it turned out that the refrigeration shop had the only radio capable of picking up WWV, the national Bureau of Standards atomic clock signal. They would call me, I would tune in WWV and put the phone up to the speaker. It apparently worked quite well for them. I always wonders how other radar sites did this.
